Jordan Lodge February 2012 Word Article

My Brothers,

I was scrolling thru the pictures on my camera and came across some a I took of last winter.  What a difference  a year makes.  Last year by this time we had over 72" of snowfall.  This year our grass is still green and northern extremes like Rapid City, South Dakota makes the evening news by being warmer than Miami, Florida.

As we progress into the winter months, the lodge experiences subtle changes which tends to stress the very fabric of the lodge.  These changes come primarily in the form of vacancies at various positions.  We see sidelines become sparser as our "Snowbirds" seek out the warmth of the South.  Sometimes a job will necessitate that an officer be away from home, sometimes months at a time.  Such is the case of our Secretary.  Our Senior Warden was blessed by being offered a new job locally, but is working long hours which often makes it difficult to attend meetings.  There are winter vacations and then there are colds and sickness.  All these factors cause stress, but the significant thing is how a lodge adapts to those changes through the efforts of our fellow Brothers who step up to fill these vacancies.  We are fortunate at Jordan Lodge to have the support of so many.

Remember our Super Sunday Chicken BBQ on February 5th and please support it in your own way.

Here's hoping your winter months are pleasant and healthy.

                                       Sincerely,
                                               Worshipful Walt (Sonny) Schloop
