A letter from Konosioni Lodge

To Brothers, Brothers all:

The Syracuse Housing Authority has requested community support to provide toys and bicycles for the hundreds of resident youth located throughout the city of Syracuse.SHA serves nearly 1500 low income houses.

In these challenging times Konosioni Lodge #950 lead by Worshipful Master Rolf Schwedes has pledge to Syracuse Housing Authority to help support the Holiday giveaway.

In addition to collecting toys this year the lodge has began efforts to solicit donations of new Bicycles to be distributed at the December 21st Holiday Party at The Pioneer Homes .

The idea to solicit donations of bicycles this year came from the program staff that believes bicycles would promote healthy activity and a stronger sense of community in the housing developments.

At a prior meeting of the public relations committee of Grand Lodge one of the topics of discussion was to all Lodges to find more ways to become visible to the public on who we are and what we do. Charity being one of them. What a great opportunity for Public Relations for our District and the craft of Freemasonry.

At the December 21st Holiday party the Mayor of Syracuse and local Press will be present. The Lodge and all donors are invited.

Therefore Konosioni Lodge, Master Rolf Schwedes and Committee Chairmen Rick Miori and Committee member Secretary Carl Bliss challenge all Brothers to go out and buy a new Bicycle to support this cause.

We also set this challenge to all other Brothers and Lodges in all Districts to go out and do the same and come join us on 12/21/2011

SHA has requested that most bikes be of the 24 inch variety. There are many models available at stores like Wal-Mart, K- Mart and Target for under the cost of One Hundred dollars ($100.00)
