Jordan December 2011 Word Article
Brothers,
By the time this article appears in The Word, the Grand Lecturer's Convention will have passed. I wish to thank Bro. Bob
Kimberly for filling in that evening as Marshall. Bob serves in that position in lodge and does a fine job. Bob became a Master Mason one year ago, and has been a faithful member right from the beginning, attending lodge meetings regularly and pitching in at lodge functions wherever he is needed. It's great to see new brothers become so active and keep our lodge vibrant.
Also worthy of that distinction is Bro. Athonis Pines and Bro. John Meixner. Both have been very giving of their time at lodge functions and we sincerely appreciate their contributions.
I recently heard that birthdays are good for you, the more you have the longer you live. And it must also be so for anniversaries. If you see Jack and Jeanette Horner, wish them a Happy 50th Anniversary and
many, many, more for a long life.
Currently we are awaiting the reports of the two investigating committees on the two petitioners. This should occur at our Nov. 21st meeting. Pending the outcome of the ballots, hopefully we can schedule practice dates and a date for the 1st Degree.
It's not too early to start planning for our second major fund raiser of the year, our Annual Chicken Barbecue which we always set on the same date as Super Bowl Sunday. This year it falls on Sunday February 5th, 2012. I will call a meeting of the Barbecue Staff, Kitchen Staff and Advertising in order to make plans and a list of food and materials for this event. Mark this date on your calendar and plan on helping out.
In closing: "The only people with whom you should try to get even with are those who have helped you."
Sincerely,
W.: Walter "Sonny" Schloop
